Mission Murals is a grassroots, volunteer driven initiative developed to amplify the mission, values and visions of nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve. Our goal is to come together to celebrate and build community, while supporting working artists.
What is Mission Murals?
Mission Murals is a community driven and funded initiative, led by people who love, are inspired by and want to create public art. Mission Murals is a giving circle, we harness the power of collective giving to raise money to support our mural projects. Our first project is with Feeding Chittenden (Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf)– We are raising funds for both the artwork and towards Feeding Chittenden’s operations- so every dollar goes towards paint and direct relief for patrons. Anyone can support this project by contributing $5 or more. Projects are led by our Core Curator team, a diverse group of Community Builders that act as the social governance to guide and move projects forward.
We launched our first project in August 2020. We invite you to participate in building this together:
Project #1- Feeding Chittenden Mural: 1,614 sq feet of Mission Mural coverage by artist Abby Manock.
This project is generously supported by VSECU, community members (like you) and a paint sponsorship from Vermont Paint Co.
ANNOUNCEMENT: We have a finalized design for the exterior of Feeding Chittenden by artist Abby Manock. Painting starting soon! Read about the design process and the artist statement.
